Earlier today I had plenty
of time to polish my shoes
– in freezing conditions –
with petrol station washer fluid
while the Ridgeline ate
gallons of fuel.
What a slow pump.
Cold.
Shiny.

One more
before the feet are up,
the wine is opened,
and a ten-day agenda of “nothing”
is entered.

It’s almost time to open
(bottles of) presents.
