The day I arrived, I woke
in the night to the lights
on the sea, curled up
terrified at what lay ahead
of me. I couldn’t answer
the question, “Why?”

Today I leave
knowing

Whenever there’s a thunderstorm
there’s always
a lot of shrieking and running
amok. The girls started flickering
the lights and saying,
“Teacher, please tell
horror! Tell
horror to us.”

I saw the most amazing
thing this morning… hundreds
upon hundreds of birds
flying in a circular formation

The beauty of it actually
stopped me in my tracks.

I’ve never seen the sky
this color before.
It’s yellow and the rain has stopped
suddenly. I shot
the moon.
I shot the moon!!!
Glorious day!

My ipod is stuck
in Dec. 31, 1969
at exactly
7:00 pm.

It won’t let me change
it.

love is like a moth
to me. I can never
admire it from afar.
I’m determined to catch it, but it’s fast and
unpredictable
so I get frustrated.

Sometimes, I open my hand to surprisingly
find it there, but suddenly realize
that in my pursuit I wiped all the dust off it’s wings
so it can’t fly
anymore.

It makes me want to watch it
from afar…
which is great with a moth, but
love?
