Sorry no church
today, did not turn on alarm clock and
can’t find socks,
have to find food,
packing my meds,
brushing my hair,
and OOH
my goodness a bit
of anxiety.

Christmas, however fraught with kitsch,
does seem to survive, and I
hope in this season
we can find the depth that tradition confers.
A few years ago
my Christmas dinner was interrupted by 12
brass players who appeared on my porch and played
Christmas carols. I don’t think I’ve ever had
a richer experience of Christmas
—except for seeing
this stars one Christmas
Eve in second grade—
and I will be
eternally grateful to them for reminding
me of who
I am.

Was given a wonderful
by a feisty elderly woman
the booth at the parking garage
pray expecting God will answer.
I lost my ticket
had given up,
He used it
to display His sovereignty
and faithfulness,
through some kind
people

I kind of want a crèche.
Preferably hand-carved and painted.
Dear Santa,
Please put it in my dutch oven.
Please put the dutch oven
in a lobster pot
surrounded by bamboo knitting needles.
I’ve been a moderately good girl this year.
All my best

Ah, the day of reckoning
beautiful you are!
No better way
to start the day
than with a bowl of Raisin Bran
and the good words

I cry in the arms
of the eternal
hopelessly content,
and dreadfully pleasant
in my dance
All that I have loved,
I thank you
and ask your
forgiveness
My tears have never been my own.

I am remembering my dear friends:
And the death beds I sat at.
And the joyous moments
we shared,
And the refusal
to acknowledge our existence.
And the loving way we came to care for each other.
And the endless heartbreak.
And the visions of angels.
And the incredible pain they felt.
And the visions of angels.
And the visions of angels.

I understand now.
Throughout
history,
humans
have been using amulets
to ward off evil spirits.
Though these rarely exist in physical form
anymore, they have taken on a new
digital presence
How long before sickness,
despair and
death are all
digital too?
