Sometimes,WhenLookingBack

you realise there’ve been some
happy moments
(including the time that pumpkin came bobbing
(or the time this passed you by in the sky)

that the day you wrote your name/s
in chocolate was a good,
good day
that the person next to you (not the statue
behind)
was the reason for the whole trip
anyway

that not everybody hears the music you (think
you) hear

that some friendships are forever

that life was all around you
that light was all around you
that wisdom was all around you
(but most especially on the Northern Line)

some days you woke up to beauty
you were too
asleep to recognise

But I’m not the lighthouse

I like lighthouses

the real things, in art,
in poems and songs and hymns.

But I’m not the lighthouse

“Brightly beams
our Father’s mercy
From his lighthouse ever more….”

The next line is about us
keepers of the lower lights
the lights along the shore
that mark the harbor
and the jutting rocks
and the shallows

“Let the lower lights be burning;
send a gleam across the wave.
Some poor fainting, struggling seaman
you may rescue, you may save.”

My little lighthouse in my window
is very comforting to me. My blessing,
my duty in one little image that I see
every day.

omar wanted to tell everybody:
live ur lives, dont worry
about the things that don’t go
exactly how u think they should,
u may drool a lot like me, but in the end
we’re all who we are. live
power to ur truth. and sometimes?
hide under a side-table.
there’s no reason to hide
what u feel.
bless.
