I just saw a bird hopping about
with twig in beak on a ledge outside
I find it amazing how birds
are able to make nests
without hands.
I wonder how long it would take
to make my bed
using only my mouth and feet…

I walked under the tree
on the way back in and noticed
it is FULL
of bees. Hundreds and hundreds of little
honey bees drifting from flower to flower.
I have never noticed them before,
I wonder if because it’s been in bloom so long.
This has been the best year ever,

Well we’re all still
here! The sky didn’t fall
yet
so i guess coffee should be
made for us all.

Technically, roses
come in a variety of colours,
As do violets.
I’m a programmer,
I don’t even look you
in the eye when I talk to you.

i think you’ve said this to me before
but it was one of the truest
things you’ve ever said
that sacrifice by definition requires love
not only in the act of making an offering
but in loving the object

Look, I don’t normally have a problem with you.
You come right after Monday,
are often ignored solely for your unimportance,
and generally are a fairly easy thing to live through.
But this particular iteration of yourself?
This one happening all around me?
Well…
No real complaints,
but take it a little easier, okay?
And put on some deodorant.

Every once in a while
it’s nice to walk
up Fifth Avenue at one o’clock
in the morning while listening
to “Ray of Light” by Madonna,
just to feel
like you own the place.

In a fit of bachelorian rage,
I flung myself from a tall building
last night. Next thing I knew,
I was a sparrow.
Folks in the rebirth department
neglected to wipe my memories.
And so I am now
a sparrow, albeit a very good-looking one.
I’m hoping springtime brings both delicious
grubs and fruitful mates.
As for how I am typing,
I found an old lady
with Wi-Fi in the park,
and she finds it amusing to watch me
peck at her keyboard.
Let her laugh.
