laying on my old bed with sister
if you stare at the vaulted ceiling
in this room it makes it seem
like it’s getting taller

Bless our hearts to hear
in the breaking

My daughter is singing
in the bathroom
while she is cleaning,
she was singing in the kitchen
while she cleaned there.
The boy is singing
along to Christmas songs.
I really needed a restful
Saturday.

Mina wrapped herself in a pink blanket
and told us she’s a princess.
locked in her tower,
she locked me outside
while I was unloading the car,
then stood in the window
and stared at me.
Mina wrapped herself
in a pink blanket and told us
she’s a princess.

Those of you who talk to me often know
that I’m awaiting a rebirth of some sort
teeth will be torn out of my head and with it
some sort of right of passage/vision quest/
tearing of hooks from the back
as adolescents try to pull heavy boulders in vain
If you see me, please stop me.
60 days.
I hope to be reborn.

I touched your breath with my lips,
a closeness; sincere. The exhale
brushed my hair and I laid there,
groomed by your presence. Yet
your scent was a grimoire,
a book of spells, chanting me
to wither. I touched your breath
with my lips; waiting.
