Still awake at 1:45AM
Between now and then
I will perhaps sleep,
then battle the demon
that lives in my hot water heater,
shave 4 days of thatch from my face
(or is it 5 days?), pack
an efficient yet healthy lunch,
and then brave those insane
NJ drivers for 30+ minutes.
Or I could just stay up all night
and have a nice fruit smoothie
to start my day; the sleep
would certainly lead to jousting
with the alarm clock,
resulting in panicked rushing about.
In olden times I could pull
an all-nighter, but tonight
I’ll try to sleep. Maybe one of you
will call me at 7AM (no, 7:15, maybe
7:30, or even 45) and roust me.

HOT DAY RISING:
I can feel the heat
already just
by watching the sunrise.

#18:
The orange flowers
next to the garage.
And the purple flowers
next to the bonsai.
#16:
Fireflies.
Sitting on the porch
and seeing
the fireflies light
up the yard… I’ll
definitely miss that.

#19:
The first snow,
and the silence
that follows–there is
nothing quite like
walking outside
when everything is
still and quiet.
I know it’s not
a common sentiment,
but I actually really
love the snow.
#22:
The Ledges,
especially in the fall.

the trees smear the sky like a palette
the cold of the windowpane on your nose
and on Monday, the light was streaming
in across my bare legs and I didn’t
even realize I was nodding off
it just felt like sleep and thoughts
and the blurryworld were all the same

Facebook is the act
of setting your human soul
upon the demons of non-life.
It is cruel and immoral
and should be damned by God.
All of us our now
over the hill and heading
toward the Valley of Death.
May we be remembered
as sheep grazing in the pastures
of ignorance and self-indulgence.
