What is this?

“Poetry surrounds us everywhere, but putting it on paper is, alas, not so easy as looking at it.”
—Vincent van Gogh

This project aims to explore the readymade artistic potential of social media in the form of a kind of “found poetry.” Call it Dadaist, call it Postmodern, call it Hipster (with a capital H)—it is probably all of those things. But it begs one important question: is everyone a poet?

This project consists of daily poetry posts, some humorous, some serious, all containing content exclusively derived from facebook. There are three rules:

1. The source of the content is strictly anonymous. The words used in these poems consists of real content from real people about real things, some of which are personal. For that reason, the identities of these “authors” is never revealed.

2. Every individual line of a poem is an unedited chunk of text from a facebook status, wall-post, or message.

3. Any single poem must contain content originating from only one person’s profile. The person cannot be me.
